MOLE REMOVAL

What is Mole Removal ?

Mole removal treatment is a medical procedure aimed at eliminating moles, which are typically benign growths on the skin. Moles can vary in size, shape, and color, and while most are harmless, some may pose cosmetic concerns or carry a risk of developing into melanoma, a type of skin cancer.

Types of Mole Removal Treatments :

  1. Surgical Excision: This method involves cutting out the mole and a small margin of surrounding tissue. It is usually performed under local anesthesia. The wound is then closed with stitches. Surgical excision is often used for larger moles or those that need to be examined for signs of cancer.

  2. Surgical Shave: In this procedure, the mole is shaved off flush with the skin. This method is suitable for raised moles and typically leaves a flat scar. It is less invasive than excision and usually does not require stitches.

  3. Laser Removal: This technique uses concentrated light energy to break down mole cells. It is ideal for small, flat, and pigmented moles. Laser removal is less invasive, causes minimal scarring, and is often preferred for cosmetic reasons.

  4. Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy involves freezing the mole with liquid nitrogen, causing it to fall off over time. This method is effective for non-cancerous moles and usually requires multiple sessions.

  5. Electrosurgery: This procedure uses electrical currents to burn off the mole. It is often combined with curettage, where the mole is scraped off after burning. This method is effective for small, superficial moles.
